Open and Save assistant
Every Open and Save dialog, one click from your folders
When an app shows an Open or Save dialog, Folia Files docks a panel next to it: the folders you have open, your favorites, recent folders and files, and the Shelf. Click one and the dialog goes there.

In short
Folia Files adds a panel beside the Open and Save dialogs of every Mac app. It lists the folders open in Folia Files, your favorites, recent folders and files, and the Shelf; a click takes the dialog to that folder or selects that file, and you can type a path or filter the list. It needs macOS's Accessibility permission. It covers what most people use Default Folder X for.
The folder you are working in, right there
The first section lists the folders open in your Folia Files panes. You were looking at the client folder? Saving the invoice there is one click.
Below come your favorites, recent folders and recent files. Type to filter, or type a path starting with / or ~.
The Shelf, inside the dialog
Files you put on the Shelf are listed too. In an Open dialog, a click selects the file; you can also drag items from the panel onto the dialog, or drop files on it.

Only what you want
Hide or fold any section, or fold the whole panel to a thin strip when you don't need it.
Website edition and Mac App Store
The assistant uses macOS's Accessibility permission, which Apple does not give to sandboxed apps. It is in the website edition; in the Mac App Store edition it works through Folia Files Companion (free), which receives that permission.
Questions
For the essentials, yes: recent and favorite folders, the folders open in your file manager, recent files, jumping there in one click. Default Folder X has more options inside the dialog itself (tags and comments when saving, for example).
Every app that uses the standard macOS Open and Save dialogs — which is almost all of them.
